C Elite Keyed Handle Set with Offset Latch

C Elite Handle Set was used on Hurd Sliding Patio Doors Built From 1993 thru 2006 (known part number 013245). The C Elite Old Style used from 1993 - 2006 is not longer sold. New style part # 522 shown in the picture above (you can click on picture to enlarge). This is the replacement style for the Old CHES Elite "C" Handle Set as well as the Upgrade part #516 and Standard Oak part #508. This new style C Elite Handle set also works on may other door brands.

Keyed handle sets: Keyed Means you can Lock and Unlock your door from the inside using the lock latch AND Lock and Unlock your door from the outside using a key. Most Colors are a stock item. Shafts for the keyed lock may need to be cut depending on your thickness of door your have. Otherwise handle will be loose on your door. If you want to avoid the possibility of having to cut the shafts order the NON KEYED version. (see trouble shooting install at bottom of page for more details on cutting shafts).

Non-Keyed handle sets: Means you can lock and unlock your door only from the inside with the lock latch. But you can NOT lock or unlock from the outside. Most Colors are a stock item.

Dummy Handle Sets: No Locking or unlocking capability. Used mostly on 4 wide doors where 2 panels operate. Dummys are mounted on the secondary door. Allow 3-4 week lead time once order is placed. Dummy Handle set DO NOT need new Mortise lock!

Face plate is 8 1/2" long x 1" wide (new style) Handle 5 1/2" Center to Center (CTC). Screw Holes are 3 15/16" Center to Center (CTC).

If you want to use # 522 C Elite Handle package to replace P/N 516 Upgrade Door Handle. Additional parts will be needed! You will need a new recessed mortise lock with the gray/sliver cylinder part# 518. You will also need the New Style Shim part #512-NEW or else the handle set will be loose. You will have to fill the top screw hole that will be left over from the old handle set. You can do this by using part number 546 or 546U binding post. Please read all details below and watch video below.

Part # 518 Recessed Mortise Lock with a With Gray/Sliver 45 degree Cylinder Sold Separately - $40.00 each.

Depending on what handle you currently have you many or may not need a new Mortise Lock. If your current Recessed Mortise Lock has the black 90 degree cylinder you will need to purchase a new recessed mortise lock with the gray/sliver 45 degree cylinder for this handle set to work.

Part # 512-NEW New Style Shim For C Elite handle set. Comes in white only. If you have a Hurd CHES Narrow style door you need the shim. If you have the Hurd CHES-F (French) Hurd door you do NOT need the shim but you do have to cut of 1/8" of the handle pin. Please watch 2nd video below. No additional cost when purchased with the C Elite Handle Set.

Part # 546 Standard Binding Post Screw - Silver Mill Finish - No additional cost when purchased with the C Elite Handle Set. No other finishes available. Will work in existing upper hole in Hurd door- no modification needed.

Part# 546U UPGRADE Binding Post Screw - Chrome, Brass Dull Finish, Dark Bronze & 18-8 Stainless Steel $16 each. 1/4" diameter. Comes with Finish washer for interior screw - only colors for washer is Sliver, Black and Brass. Will include best match color washer with biding post screw you choose.

Trouble Shooting Install:

If when using they keyed handle set and the turn lever for the lock and the turn lever for the keyed cylinder are hitting and pushing each other out of the the latch: This could be because you have the french style Hurd door and the panel is a different thickness. What you will need to do is cut the shafts so they both can fit into the mortise lock and the handle set can be screwed down tightly. Easiest is to put on the outside handle in place and mark the shaft where it comes through. Take it off and do the same for the inside handle. Then you can cut just shy of that mark on both shafts and then they should meet in the middle. Double check your marks so you cut on the correct side and don't cut too short. This handle set is made as a replacement option for many door thickness which is why you get multiple length screws and can cut the shafts to fit. If you want to avoid doing this all together order the non keyed version.

Never use power tools when installing handle sets you run the risk of stripping out the screws.

Old Style Shim # 512-OLD will NOT work with the new style C-Elite handle. You Must order the #512-NEW with Handle set #522
